Santa Fe AYSO

Team Formation Procedures

  • Teams will be built by coaches, Division Coordinators, Board Members.
  • Teams will be built according to age groups and gender.
  • Teams will contain the outlined number of players (age group and gender specific)
  • There will be age group and gender specific number of teams per division based on the number of players registered.

Formation Mechanics

·        The top players from each age group and gender will be distributed evenly between all teams in that Division (GU11 for example will have X teams and the top players as determined by coaches, division coordinators and board members will be evenly distributed to all teams.)

·        The remaining players will be evenly distributed to the teams based on player ability determined by the group (coaches, division coordinators and board members).

·        Player for player requests will be accommodated if the request is clearly written on the registration form.  No other means (email, phone calls, casual conversations, etc) will be used to place players together.  Players that request each other will be placed on teams together.  Other placements will be made if one player requests another, but not each other, only if that doesn't place more than two players on a team, Billy requests Timmy who requests Ralph will not result in Billy, Timmy and Ralph being on the same team.

·        Coaches and their progeny registration form will be held out for later assignment.

·        The group will form even teams based on the above mechanics.

·        Once the teams are formed the registration forms will be collected in team units.

·        The Board will randomly assign coaches and coach’s progeny to teams.

·        Assistant coaches will not be assigned to head coaches; rather assistant coaches will be randomly assigned to teams as their child is assigned.  There is no guarantee that coaches and assistant coaches will be assigned to the same team.

Hardship Transfer Cases

  • No coach may transfer any player without written approval from the Board.
